The Selladore
"The art of art, the glory of expression and the sunshine of the light of letters, is simplicity."
- Walt Whitman
A note from the editor:
The Selladore was created to give students the opportunity to regain control over language and to facilitate independent expression where there might exist passivity. The objective in creating The Selladore webpages is to provide an interactive platform for evoking creative inspiration through the sharing of artwork and to provide a space for the articulation of the student voice. Through The Selladore, we aim to recognize that within every student lies a wealth of creativity, ideas, and unique narratives, all of which deserve to be heard and celebrated. We ask simply that you view this work with an open mind, an open heart and with the understanding that, should you choose to express yourself as well, we will be waiting patiently for your submissions.
- Rowan Parkinson and Maddie Petit (in collaboration with past editors)
Within these pages are entire worlds, constellations of meaning and purpose brought to bear upon us by the students of Elmwood. There is a startling array of techniques and styles fraught with humour, passion and intent. Though each piece says something different, they are similar in that they all say something, meaningfully and forcefully.
