NEW ATHLETICS LEADERSHIP

This year, we’re also welcoming Nadine Kilbertus, Middle School Athletics Director, and Derek O’Farrell, Senior School Athletics Director, to their new leadership roles.

Both bring a deep passion for sport and a shared belief in the important role athletics can play in students’ lives. Their focus is on creating opportunities for every student to find a sport or activity they enjoy, develop confidence and resilience, build connections with others, and establish healthy habits that can last a lifetime.

MEET NADINE | MIDDLE SCHOOL ATHLETICS DIRECTOR

Sports have been a part of Nadine’s life for as long as she can remember. A multi-sport athlete throughout high school, she competed in swimming, tennis, volleyball, and more before discovering her passion for teaching and coaching. Her experiences as a lifeguard, swim instructor, volleyball coach, and tennis instructor ultimately led her to study Kinesiology at the University of Western Ontario and pursue a career in athletic leadership.

As Middle School Athletics Director, Nadine is passionate about keeping girls engaged in sport during these formative years and helping them discover the confidence, friendships, and sense of accomplishment that athletics can provide. Outside of school, she continues to play volleyball and explore new sports, while enjoying skiing, swimming, biking, and golfing with her family.

MEET DEREK | SENIOR SCHOOL ATHLETICS DIRECTOR

Derek’s passion for sport has shaped much of his life, teaching him valuable lessons about resilience, perseverance, and self-discovery. A former competitive rower who had the privilege of representing Canada at the Olympic Games, he brings a lifetime of athletic and coaching experience to his role as Senior School Athletics Director.

Derek is excited to help Elmwood students explore a wide variety of sports and discover activities that inspire their own passion for being active. He believes that fostering a love of sport early can create a foundation for healthy, active living well beyond students’ time at Elmwood. Today, he remains active through cycling and hockey and enjoys supporting his children in their own athletic journeys.

LIFTED AND UNSTOPPABLE THROUGH SPORT

At the heart of Elmwood Athletics is a simple goal: engage every student. Whether she is joining a team for the first time, pursuing a competitive passion, or discovering a new activity, every student should have the opportunity to experience the many benefits of being active.

Through sport, students build confidence, develop resilience, strengthen relationships, and learn what they are capable of, helping each of them become LIFTED and UNSTOPPABLE.
