THE 2025-2026 ELMWOOD FUND: POTENTIAL, ORCHESTRATED

At Elmwood, music is not an extracurricular activity. It is an essential language of learning, growth, and connection. It begins in the earliest grades as joyful exploration and develops into a discipline that builds confidence, creativity, and a deep sense of community. It is one of the many ways our students discover their voices and learn to use them with purpose.

That is why this year’s Elmwood Fund is focused on enhancing and expanding the music program across every division. From new instruments to industry-standard technology, from enriched programming to modernized spaces, we are investing in the tools that help every student explore her creativity and amplify her potential.

Why Music, Why Now

Our Intentional Exceptional campaign calls us to elevate the student experience in ways that are deliberate, future-focused, and aligned with Elmwood’s core values. Music exemplifies this vision. It fosters focus and memory, encourages leadership and collaboration, and teaches girls to think critically, listen deeply, and perform with confidence. These are skills that resonate far beyond the classroom or stage.

To keep pace with the world our students are preparing to lead, we must invest. Instruments need to be updated and expanded. Our technology must reflect the tools used in professional composition, recording, and production. Our learning spaces must match the energy, creativity, and excellence of the students who use them.

This is not simply about enhancing a program. It is about preparing young women to lead with confidence, express themselves fully, and embrace their creativity in a rapidly changing world.

A Continuum of Possibility

In the Junior School, music begins as a hands-on, curiosity-driven experience. Students explore rhythm, melody, and movement through Orff instruments, recorders, and digital tools. They develop listening skills, musical fluency, and creative confidence. With enriched resources, their early experiences with music become even more engaging, meaningful, and joyful.

In Middle School, music becomes a practice in leadership, teamwork, and discipline. Students refine their understanding of music theory, apply it to both composition and performance, and collaborate in ensembles, choirs, and bands. With access to new instruments and updated technology, every student has the opportunity to grow and thrive without limitation.

In the Senior School, music is a space for mastery and innovation. Students engage in advanced performance, prepare for IB-level study, and blend traditional techniques with modern tools. They compose, record, and explore sound in ways that mirror real-world practice. With professional-grade equipment and resources, they are positioned not just as learners, but as creative leaders beyond Elmwood.

The Elmwood Fund is the heart of our culture of giving. It brings our entire community together—parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends—to meet immediate needs and invest in long-term opportunities. Each year, it helps us ensure that every student has access to the programs, resources, and support she needs to thrive.

This year, your gift to the Elmwood Fund will:

  • Place high-quality instruments in the hands of students across all grades

  • Bring industry-standard music technology and software into classrooms

  • Support innovative programming that broadens access and deepens engagement

  • Strengthen the music continuum from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12
  • Support needs-based scholarships and bursaries across all grades

Every contribution, at every level, makes a meaningful difference.

Composed with Care, Powered by Purpose

At Elmwood, we believe that when a girl has the tools, the space, and the encouragement to find her voice, she becomes unstoppable. Music is one of the most powerful ways we nurture that voice—instilling creativity, resilience, and joy in every student.

We invite you to help us bring this vision to life. Together, we can ensure that Elmwood’s music program reflects our shared values of intentionality, excellence, and opportunity. Your gift is not only a contribution to music. It is an investment in confidence, in possibility, and in futures that are bold, bright, and deeply inspired.
