Tell us about your new role and what you are most excited about.
I am the new junior school librarian. I'm excited to be a part of Elmwood's close-knit community. I'm enjoying getting to know the students, staff, and parents.
What experience (work or otherwise) has best prepared you for this role?
I have been a teacher and librarian for 28 years. I worked at schools in different parts of the world - in the US, Lithuania, Peru, and Japan - before moving to Canada with my family. Teaching at International Baccalaureate schools and working with the Primary Years Programme has prepared me for this role in the library.
Tell us about your role and what you like most about it.
One of the things I like most about my role as librarian is that I get to work with all of the students in the Junior School, from Pre-K to Grade 5. I love helping students discover good books and new interests.
What is your favourite thing about Elmwood?
My favourite thing about Elmwood is the sense of community here. I'm grateful for the warm welcome I've received from everyone at the school. Another one of my favourite things is Elmwood's beautiful campus. I love looking out the library windows and seeing all the tall trees. Most days, it feels like I'm in a magic tree house (pardon the library joke!).
What is your favourite way to treat yourself?
A hot cup of tea and a piece of dark chocolate. Or a day at Nordik Spa!
