EMPOWERING ACCOUNTABILITY - ELMWOOD INTERNAL SCHOLARSHIPS

by Andrea Thomson, Director of Development & Alumni Relations

At Elmwood, we empower students to be accountable for their academic and extracurricular journey. Accountability encourages students to set clear, measurable goals, which fosters a sense of ownership over their learning. This ownership leads to greater motivation and determination, as students recognize that their efforts directly impact their achievements.

The internal scholarship program at Elmwood, which includes our Middle Years Programme (MYP), Arts, STEM, Community Service and Rowing, are important for much more than the financial benefit. Merit-based scholarships drive academic excellence, goal setting, and leadership. By recognizing achievements beyond academics, they bolster confidence, foster competition, and inspire critical thinking. These opportunities cultivate resilience, networking, and diverse talents. Scholarships also prepare students for post-secondary education, teaching valuable application skills and setting students on a path of personal growth, resilience, and determination.

Hear from three recipients of an MYP Scholarship who were recognized for their exceptional academic success, their participation in many extra-curricular activities and their demonstration of a commitment to school life and their community.

Ultimately, by championing accountability and commitment, Elmwood doesn’t just prepare students for academic success. It nurtures our next generation of leaders who are poised to make a meaningful difference, both within their communities and on the global stage. Elmwood students are poised to take a lead and be the change makers we need in the future.

The application process for the internal scholarship program will open next week. More information will be included in the November 28 issue of the Outlook.
