ELMWOOD'S PEAK PERFORMERS PROGRAM

The Peak Performers Program was created to enable students who are involved in rigorous and competitive athletic pursuits to reach their peak both at school and in their athletic endeavors outside of school. The program is available to any Elmwood student in Grades 8-12 who trains or competes on average for 15 hours or more per week and who competes at an elite level.

The program has two branches:

  1. Guidance Support - Athletes will have the opportunity to meet regularly with one of our Learning Strategists or a member of our Guidance team. Meeting frequency can change depending on need and load; all athletes must meet with their strategist a minimum of once a month. Meetings will help ensure that the athlete is able to balance their academic requirements with their athletic needs and can facilitate support when the athlete misses school for their sport.
  2. Students in Grade 10, 11 or 12 may choose to opt into one or two Peak Performers Courses (PAF3O and PAF4O). These phys-ed courses aim to recognize the tremendous amount of training that student athletes partake in and to help them build a toolbox of skills and strategies that will help them become the best student athlete they can be. The course is online with in-school support. Coursework and deadlines can vary depending on the competition and training load for each athlete.

If your child is interested in being considered for our Peak Performers Program, they can apply by completing this application by Thursday, May 14th. Once students are accepted into the program, they will have the opportunity to add the Peak Performers Course to their schedule if needed. If you have any questions, please reach out to Jen Walsh (Associate Director of Academic and University Counselling) or Erin Derbyshire (Peak Performer Course Instructor).
