ELMWOOD BISTRO MEAL PLAN OPTIONS - EXPLAINED

Elmwood’s Chef Candice, a professional chef and certified holistic nutritionist, understands the vital link between nutrition and learning. Healthy eating supports the body in numerous ways, from boosting immunity and reducing the risk of illness to improving sleep and maintaining a healthy nervous system. With this in mind, Chef Candice and her Bistro Team are always innovating—testing new recipes, updating menu options, and refining the meal plan to better serve our students. Below is an overview of the current Bistro meal plan options, along with insights into which plans might best suit different students' needs.

Full Meal Plan

For Elmwood families, the full meal plan combines convenience with the peace of mind that students are getting the nutrition they need to learn at their best all day long. The Junior School Meal Plan includes a main meal as well as healthy snacks in the morning and afternoon. Junior School students have the choice of a hot meal or a sandwich with veggies and dip for lunch.

The Middle and Senior School Meal Plan has slightly larger portions and includes a choice of hot meal, salad of the day, pasta of the day or sandwich with veggies and dip, plus a piece of fresh fruit and the daily flavoured water.  In the event that a student is participating in a field trip over the lunch hour, a healthy bagged lunch is packed for them.  And a vegetarian option is available every day to students in all grades.

Swipe Card

The swipe card is a great option for students who want the flexibility of bringing lunch or snacks from home on some days or who have varied dietary restrictions or serious allergies.  Families can set a limit to the monthly spend or select an unlimited amount.  Junior School students can purchase any lunch or snacks.  Middle and Senior School students can choose from any of the lunch options (hot meal, salad of the day, pasta of the day or sandwich and veggies and dip), snacks and lighter items in the grab-n-go fridge (yoghurt parfaits, bagels, breakfast sandwiches, etc.) or any other Bistro offering (muffins, oatmeal, pita chips, granola  bars, etc.)  This option is available for all students.  Middle and Senior School students must present their swipe card at each check-out.  Swipe cards for Junior School students will be managed by Bistro staff.
