The Student Handbook outlines Elmwood's expectations for positive behaviour based on the core values of respect, innovation, responsibility, integrity, and collaboration. These values are essential in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive.

Respect is the cornerstone of our community. We expect all students to treat one another, faculty, and staff with kindness, empathy, and acceptance. Embracing diversity and valuing our fellow students' unique perspectives and backgrounds creates an atmosphere of inclusivity and mutual support.

Responsibility is a key aspect of being part of our academic community. We expect students to take ownership of their learning, meet their academic commitments, and demonstrate punctuality and diligence. We encourage students to develop a sense of personal responsibility by making ethical choices and understanding the impact of their actions on others. By instilling a strong sense of responsibility, we prepare students to become accountable citizens and leaders.

Integrity is a fundamental value we hold dear. We maintain the highest ethical standards and expect students to do the same. Honesty, trustworthiness, and academic integrity are non-negotiable principles. Upholding the integrity of our academic work, respecting intellectual property, and conducting ourselves with honesty contribute to an environment of trust and credibility.

Collaboration is a vital skill for success. We emphasize the power of teamwork, cooperation, and collective problem-solving. Students are encouraged to engage in collaborative projects, share knowledge, and support their peers' learning. Through collaboration, we foster a culture of support and camaraderie, equipping students with strong interpersonal skills that will benefit them long after they have left our hallways.

Innovation is woven into the fabric of our school. We encourage students to think creatively, challenge norms, and seek fresh solutions to complex problems. By cultivating an entrepreneurial mindset, we empower students to explore their passions, take calculated risks, and learn from failure. This approach ensures we are always moving toward “better.”

Elmwood's Student Success Centre is the place to go for all your academic support needs! From Success Studios, Elmwood Edge Tutoring, Success Coaching, Learn to Learn, Early Intervention Planning, Exam Prep, and more  Ms. Fraser and the Student Success team have you covered. 

Success Studios

Open to students in grades 6-12, Success Studios are designed to provide students with a structured, supportive environment to complete homework, develop effective learning strategies, and strengthen executive function skills. 

When: Monday – Friday, 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Elmwood Edge Tutoring

Elmwood offers a tutoring program with specialized content experts, set during school hours for ease of scheduling. Parents can access this program if they feel their child needs academic support for any reason, be it learning gaps from transferring to a new school, perhaps your child is neurodivergent and requires one on one assistance, an IB exam, or they just need some help grasping difficult concepts. No matter the reason, Elmwood Edge provides excellent support, and there is always communication between tutors, teachers, and parents about the students' progress.
