NAILA MOLOO WINS THE INGENIOUS+ YOUTH INNOVATION CHALLENGE

Congratulations to Grade 10 student Naila Moloo who placed first in the national Ingenious+ youth innovation challenge.

Ingenious+ invited Canadian youth aged 14 to 18 who are passionate about generating solutions to Community, Canadian, and Global challenges, to share what they hope to solve or improve in their community or beyond.

Naila's idea for a transparent and flexible solar cell would unlock applications such as bendable electronics, smart clothing, and solar windows. Leveraging solar's intersection with nanotechnology, this concept works by combining electrodeposited silver nanowires, a multi-junction semi-transparent perovskite, a nickel oxide hole transport layer, and a tin oxide electron transport layer.

This innovative idea and submission to the challenge earned her $10,000 + mentorship. Naila plans to put this funding towards her transparent and flexible solar cell idea over the summer as she builds out her proof of concept.

What an incredible accomplishment, way to go Naila!
