Tell us about your new role and what you are most excited about?
I am the grade team lead for students in grades 11 and 12. My role is to support teachers, help provide opportunities for cross-curricular learning, be a voice for student needs and a support for student well-being.
What is the best piece of advice you have ever received, and from whom?
It was from a former colleague and respected rugby coach. She said that the most important quality for a leader is to be a good follower. It reminds me that I should never ask someone to do something I would not be willing to do myself and that my role is to help others emerge as a leader.
If you could choose one superpower to have, what would it be? How would you best use it?
My favourite superhero is Storm from the X-Men because she can fly, controls the weather and is a respected leader. If I controlled the weather? I would want to use it for those moments when we are at camp and looking for that perfect day.
Which word or phrase do you use most often?
“Cool beans” or “What the quiznak?”
What has impressed you most about the start of this year?
The energy. With so much going on, the energy levels have been infectious and so I just want to match the levels the students bring every day.
