MEET THE COMMUNITY: KATE MEADOWCROFT

Tell us about your role and what you like most about it?

I am the Senior Kindergarten teacher and the IB Primary Years Coordinator. I love working with young children! It’s such an exciting age as they are full of questions about the world around them. I also love being the IB Primary Years coordinator as it allows me to work with teachers and students across the entire Junior School to develop our programme of inquiry. It’s great to see what everyone is learning!

What is your favourite thing about Elmwood?

The community! It’s a pleasure to come to work every day to see the students, their parents and my wonderful colleagues.

If you could choose one superpower to have, what would it be?  How would you best use it?

I would choose the power to double myself. As a busy mother and teacher, some days having two of myself would be very helpful.

Which word or phrase do you use most often?

“When we make mistakes and learn from them, our brains get stronger!”

What is your favourite extravagance?

Coffee. I love coffee, but only really good coffee. It’s an expensive habit.

What is your favourite way to treat yourself?

Curling up with a good book with uninterrupted time to read.

What has impressed you most about the start of this year?

I have been most impressed with everyone’s ongoing resilience throughout the pandemic. Our students in kindergarten have taken to wearing masks almost all day like champions. I think that they are just so thrilled to be back in school together!
