MEET THE COMMUNITY: BRADY JOHNSTON

Tell us about your new role and what you are most excited about.

At the moment I am happy to be assisting with administering reading in the junior grades as well as filling in where needed. Soon enough I will be taking over a grade 4 class as their classroom teacher. I am excited to be in the classroom with this lovely group of students, learn from my colleagues, share my own knowledge and experience and become a solid member of the Elmwood community.

What experience (work or otherwise) has best prepared you for this role?

Previously, I have worked in an IB school in Sweden as well as another international school there. With 9 years of teaching experience, specifically in grades 3 and 4 and in PYP, I feel that this will be a smooth transition into an environment that I am already quite familiar with.

What is your favourite thing about Elmwood?

My favourite thing so far at Elmwood is how welcoming the staff has been and how caring and helpful the students have been.

Which word or phrase do you use most often?

At school:   “Oh wow!” “So yeah.”

What is one thing that would surprise people about you?

I used to play semi-professional hockey in Sweden, Australia and the United States.

What is your favourite way to treat yourself?

Enjoying delicious food either homecooked or eating out at a nice restaurant would definitely be one of the main ways I like to treat myself.

What has impressed you most about the start of this year?

The high standard at Elmwood can be noticed immediately and I have been quite impressed with how friendly of a school I have had the pleasure to join.
