The Schwartz Family – Ryan, Jo Ann and Bridgette – speak about why they participate in the Elmwood Fund, the school’s annual giving campaign.

What inspired you to give to the 2022-23 Elmwood Fund?

Andrea Thomson! Well, Andrea and the fact that Elmwood has identified three specific fundraising priorities to improve the overall school and education experience.

Have you supported the Elmwood Fund before? If yes, why do you think it's important to support the school's annual giving campaign?

Yes. We believe in giving annually in the spirit of continuous improvement. Doing so allows us to help build the future and to take satisfaction in the progress the school is making.
How did you give to the Fund? Was it a one-time gift, a monthly donation, a donation to the United Way Workplace Campaign, or other?

All of the above! We have chosen to give to the Elmwood Fund via one-time gifts, monthly donations, and our United Way Workplace Charitable Campaign. The flexibility makes it very easy to donate.

In sharing your giving story, what do you hope others will learn, and do?

That it’s easy to give, and that every contribution counts⏤and can make a difference⏤no matter how small.
What does philanthropy mean to you and your family?

Helping wherever it may be needed is very important to us. We believe strongly in making charitable donations, and are very fortunate to be able to do so. Elmwood is but one part of our annual giving plan.
Tell us how your daughter has benefited from an Elmwood education, and how you hope this year's three priorities will make an impact on her learning and experience at the school (teaching excellence, physical and mental health through play, and financial assistance)?

She is more confident, curious, and most importantly — happy. We hope this year’s priorities continue to challenge her to succeed academically, provide her with new opportunities to expand and enhance her physical literacy, and encourage her to seek out and apply for scholarship opportunities (a very important skill / experience for university!).
Thank you to Ryan, Jo Ann and Bridgette for your contributions to the Elmwood Fund!
Even though the main campaign has quieted down, don’t forget that the Elmwood Fund runs all year! There is still time to make your donation for the 2022-23 campaign. You can either make a pledge today and pay it before June 30, 2023, or make a gift today by clicking here. Thank you!
