A group of Elmwood's grade 10 and 11 students recently attended the CAIS Senior School Leadership Conference in Sherbrooke, hosted by Bishops College School. It is run by students, for students, and each year the conference has a different theme.

This year, the conference was focused on the important role student leaders have in fostering togetherness and belonging in their school communities. Participants had the opportunity to explore and reflect on their individual capacity as leaders and further examine these themes through keynote speakers, workshops, and activities held throughout the conference.

Grade 10 student, Sadie, gave us her highlights of the trip!

  • Presenting about Elmwood and the Future Leader's Conference (FLC) as part of the Spotlight on Your School, where we talked about a unique leadership opportunity at our school
  • Making friends from across the country
  • Learning about other schools and their student leadership programs and opportunities.

Ms Walsh and Ms Bartlett also took students on a tour of Bishops University while they were in Sherbrooke, another awesome opportunity!

Elmwood would also like to wish our grade 7 and 8 students luck, as they are gearing up to attend the CAIS Middle School Student Leadership Conference next week. This conference will take place in Winnipeg, and is hosted by St. John's-Ravenscourt School, Gray Academy of Jewish Education, and Balmoral Hall.

The MS Conference will explore the theme of “Connecting Perspectives'', with highlights including a tour of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, a workshop on being an upstander, and programming on discovering your leadership style with Captains & Poets.
