ALUM HIGHLIGHT- BRIANNA CONGA-CAVÉ '16

What is your best memory from Elmwood?
My best memory from Elmwood would be my time on the Senior Prefect Team as Head of Fry. I enjoyed spending time with the members in my house and organizing and executing our house event. Additionally, I enjoyed working with the other prefects to create videos to showcase at assembly.

Which Elmwood teacher inspired you the most, and how?
Mr. Jordan Small taught my Grade 11 English course and Theory of Knowledge course. He created a safe environment to hold great class discussions and thought-provoking philosophical debates. He was a passionate and energetic teacher. Outside of class, Mr. Small was also an amazing basketball coach. Altogether, it was clear that Mr. Small loved his career and I aspire to be like him and choose a job career that makes me happy.

When you reunite with your Elmwood classmates, what do you end up doing?
When I reunite with my classmates, we typically go out for dinner and spend our evenings catching each other up on our lives.

After leaving Elmwood, what did you do?
After graduating from Elmwood in 2016, I pursued a Bachelors in Medical Sciences at Western University. During my summers, I worked for Health Canada. In 2020, I completed my Bachelors degree and was later accepted into a direct-entry Ph.D. program in Biochemistry at Western University. I am currently a second-year Ph.D. student. My research project focuses on understanding how dysregulation of a specific growth pathway is implicated in cancer.
