Excellence in learning and teaching is a core pillar for our school and key to helping each girl reach her full potential.  While we, with many other schools in Canada, will remain closed for the remainder of the school year, the learning continues!

Elmwood faculty and staff continue to deliver world-class curriculum through innovative teaching messages leveraging proven technology solutions and best practices from across North America around the world.  Our priority is to support our students academically and socially through to the successful completion of the school year including the completion of credits for our Senior Students.

On this page, we will share a view into what students are doing as well as some of the tools Elmwood girls are using to help them thrive with at home learning.

Parent Testimonials

Thank you for the great work you are doing in continuing to support and teach our girls.

"Thank you for the great work you are doing in continuing to support and teach our girls. I am sure for many parents this is also a stressful time and so knowing that our daughters are in good hands helps to take away some part of the worry. It is really reassuring to see such consistent, frequent and clear communications from the school."

John Tadman, Stefanie (Grade 9)

The administration, teachers and support staff have been truly amazing!

"I wanted to offer my sincere appreciation and admiration for everything that you and your team are doing to ensure that Sophie and her classmates stay connected, collaborate effectively, and continue to further their education in a virtual environment. The administration, teachers and support staff have been truly amazing at reacting to the initial closures in March and not missing a beat since to ensure that the girls are supported in every respect."

Denis Barbeau, Sophie (Grade 11)

This is a testament to many things Elmwood has done right.

"As you know, I have always been a very happy Elmwood parent but I have to say, now, more than ever, I am blown away by Elmwood's swift response to this crisis. This is a testament to many things Elmwood has done right. Firstly, the staff at Elmwood are agile, adaptable and dedicated to our daughters' learning. The school has embraced technology early making online learning and portals easy for Elmwood girls to navigate. Elmwood girls are hardworking, dedicated and up for challenges, making their adaptation to these strange circumstances smooth. My daughter has continued to learn and thrive with her uninterrupted education."

Alexei O’Connor, Sophie (Grade 11)

The teachers are doing a great job!

"We are very pleased with Elmwood’s response to the situation. It is such a relief that Genevieve can continue to work on her studies. She is pleased with the set-up and seems very motivated. I think it is so important to keep the daily life for the girls as normal as possible and keep spirits up. The teachers are doing a great job."

Joyce Baker and Charles Laplante, Genevieve (Grade 9)

Despite this difficult period, our girls are reaching their full potential!

"A short note to offer thanks for all that the Elmwood team has done to ensure our daughters continue to enrich their lives with meaningful learning opportunities. Having such outstanding academic support gives my daughter a sense of normalcy, in these uncertain times. We are truly grateful to all of you in the Elmwood family, keeping things running as smoothly as possible! Despite this difficult period, our girls are indeed reaching their full potential!"

Annick Fournier and Richard Dionne, Félicia (Grade 11)

Online learning is absolutely fantastic!

"The online learning is absolutely fantastic. Kaylah is organized, doing work at night, engaged and on time every day. I didn't know how it was going to work but I am beyond impressed. We are one week into a two-week quarantine and it has given Kaylah purpose and taken the stress away from being isolated from everyone."

Denise Carruthers, Kaylah (Grade 10)

A BIG thank you!

"A BIG thank you to the team at Elmwood – for all your hard work this week to ensure that the girls can continue to work and learn together in this challenging time. Maggie has had a good week and we know she's enjoyed the on-line class work and being able to engage with her classmates."

Alice and Doug Fyfe, Maggie (Grade 11)

We are very grateful!

"We just want to say how grateful we are for Elmwood to have taken the lead on distance learning this week. The school has reacted promptly to our new circumstances and we cannot even imagine how busy the staff has been to make this a virtual reality. We are very grateful for Elmwood and its team of leaders making this very stressful time a little bit easier."

Bruce and Christelle Farquhar, Emma (Grade 9)

Let the e-learning begin!

"I’m so thankful that in these uncertain times my girls have their teachers and friends to keep in touch with. With so many kids just sitting around, this reassures me that Elmwood has always been the very best choice for my girls! Let the e-learning begin!!!"

We stand in solidarity against racism!
During our assembly and learning on June 3, our community came together in solidarity against racism and intolerance. Elmwood is committed to creating a safe, inclusive and open environment for our students, faculty, alumnae and community where we can share knowledge and experience, meet in thoughtful conversation, and provide meaningful opportunities for all so that together we become agents of change against racism today, tomorrow and in the future.
