GRADE 10 NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP QUALIFYING TEST- OCTOBER 13

This year all Grade 10 students will be participating in the PSAT/NMSQT (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) on Wednesday, October 13, at 8:30 a.m. The test is composed of two main sections: Evidence-Based Reading & Writing and Mathematics.

This is an important test that provides many benefits and opportunities for our students as they start planning for their future. The PSAT allows them to explore post-secondary options that are outside of Canada. It also enters them into competitions for scholarships that may help pay for tuition fees. Most importantly, it is a practice test that will give students insight into their strengths and areas of growth in reading, writing, and maths.

Although students may be unsure of where they would like to go for their post-secondary education, it is still beneficial for them to experience standardized testing as different regions, schools, and programs may require other standardized tests.

The PSAT test will be 2 hours and 55 minutes long. Here is a brief breakdown of the structure on test day:

The test will start at 8 a.m. and end at 12:30 p.m. We look forward to October 13 as we prepare our students for an important step for the future!
