CO-CURRICULAR UPDATE

The new year at Elmwood is off to a magical start with students in our Junior, Middle and Senior Schools filled with excitement to be back on campus together, making plans to fill their proverbial cups with all of their favourite things this term. One of the most exciting parts about being back on campus and in person is the option to enjoy the fantastic Co-curricular programs featuring: Sports, Clubs, Councils, Leadership opportunities with additional special events and celebrations throughout the term.

Each Co-curricular program is being planned with the utmost care and detail to ensure that COVID protocols are in place so that students and staff are able to meet and participate in their favourite activities safely.

This week, Middle and Senior School athletics kicked off with rowing, noodle rugby and Chef Candice’s Morning Boot Camp! There will be lots more movement to follow with cross-country, soccer, tennis and intramurals in the days and weeks ahead.

Elmwood staff advisors have been working with the student leaders of clubs and councils to prepare the full list of Middle/Senior Co-curriculars this term. The excitement has been building during assemblies, with sneak peeks of clubs and announcements on Schoology. We hope everyone is looking forward to the weeks ahead. The full list of Middle/Senior Co-curricular activities will be posted for students this Friday!

Junior School students have taken the campus by storm. They are taking full advantage of the gorgeous weather outside, enjoying the playgrounds, running across the field, exploring in and around the many trees and everything in between. The month of September focuses on building new routines inside and out of the classroom, creating new friendships, re-establishing old ones, gaining confidence and welcoming any challenge that each day brings. Each of these experiences establishes the perfect foundation for our students to take risks as a learner, as an individual, and encourage them to try something new in the Co-curricular programming beginning during the week of October 4th.

Co-curricular activities for Junior School students in grades 1 - 5 will be scheduled on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons with all programming led by Elmwood staff to ensure that the health and safety of our community remain consistent and secure. Students will be cohorted by grade level during activities, and no additional cost will be associated with this programming. The full list of Junior School Co-curricular options will be available for sign-up in next week's newsletter!
