SCIENCE LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

Elmwood School is one of Canada’s leading independent day schools for girls from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12. Founded in 1915, Elmwood is the first fully accredited girls’ school in North America to offer the full International Baccalaureate Programme from Pre-Kindergarten through to university entrance. Elmwood offers a dynamic learning environment, renowned for its academic rigour and exciting co-curricular opportunities.

We are seeking a part-time Science Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic Science department. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented laboratory technician to gain experience in an outstanding IB school in an all-girls learning environment. The part-time position will comprise 3.5 hours per day.

The successful candidate will be highly organized, positive and be able to work unsupervised in a fast-paced environment. Experience working in a school environment would be an asset, though not essential.

To be considered, candidates must possess:

  • Degree in science (other professional qualifications will also be considered)
  • Laboratory technician experience
  • Experience in the repair and upkeep of scientific equipment such as microscopes, balance and meters would be an asset.
  • Ability to work with and guide students
  • Superb communication skills
  • Ability to work and instruct staff and students in a laptop/SmartBoard environment
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
