Elmwood’s vision is to be the most innovative girls’ school in Canada and to operate at the forefront of girls’ education globally. As part of this vision, in September 2018, we are introducing a new program to our high school curriculum—business and entrepreneurship. The successful candidate will have:
● The ability to create a new business and entrepreneurship academic and co-curricular program
● Experience with design thinking, team-based and interdisciplinary projects, and business competitions
● Previous practical and academic entrepreneurial experience
● Passion, creativity and commitment to the mission of the school
● An ability to work collaboratively within a team of dynamic educators
● A degree in business or a related field
● An education degree and membership in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers
● An understanding of the benefits of an all-girls’ learning environment
● The ability to instruct in a technology-rich environment
● Experience teaching in an International Baccalaureate school is desirable
● The ability to teach design would also be an asset

Career Title: Registered Early Childhood Educator Supervisor

Recently, we began the process to open a Pre-Kindergarten program for 3 year old girls which will start September 2018. We invite applications for the position of Registered Early Childhood Educator Supervisor. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an experienced person to build a dynamic Pre-Kindergarten program.

The RECE Supervisor will assume responsibility for the day to day operation of the Pre-Kindergarten Program and for the ongoing development of the program. Reporting to the Junior School Deputy Head, the successful applicant will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Pre-Kindergarten program including budget, staff, CCEYA 2014 licensing requirements, and programming. The successful applicant for this Supervisor Staff position will be working full time, 12 months per year, or as program dictates.

Responsibilities and Duties
● Work with young children from ages 3 to 4 on a daily basis
● Maintain a safe and healthy environment for children and to create a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere
● Ability to work collaboratively with others and build a strong team
● Plan and implement a program that reflects the philosophy of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme and the Ministry of Education document “How Does Learning Happen”
● Ensure that records are kept on all children in the program
● Exceed provincial standards
● Assist the Deputy Head with the development and monitoring of the Pre-Kindergarten budget

Qualifications
● Early Childhood Education Certificate
● Valid first aid certificate
● Criminal record check (vulnerable sector)
● Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required

Experience
● 3 – 5 years working in the childcare profession
● Extensive experience in licensed child care programs and activities, including knowledge of policies and procedures related to the operation of a child care centre
● Effective communication, both written and verbal and strong interpersonal skills
● Excellent organizational skills and initiative
● A growth mindset, curiosity and a willingness to accept new perspectives

Career Title: Student Life Coordinator (one-year maternity leave position August 2018 – June 2019 )
Elmwood School is an International Baccalaureate World School for girls from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Located in central Ottawa, Elmwood School has been educating young women for over 100 years. Elmwood’s experienced and dedicated faculty and staff work as a team to provide a dynamic and inspiring learning environment, and they are committed to excellence in all that they do.

Due to a maternity leave, we are inviting applications from dynamic, inspiring certified teachers with the leadership, energy and enthusiasm required to lead our student life programme. This is an exciting opportunity to build on a well-established programme and to work with dynamic students and faculty. The role includes leading and mentoring our school prefect team, planning school trips, managing student councils, supporting the leadership of major student events and supporting student life initiatives as required. The role is combined with teaching responsibilities.

The successful candidate will have:
● The ability to work with students up to Grade 12 on student life initiatives
● Previous experience of successful student leadership programming including mentoring student councils and the school prefect team, planning school trips, camps and student events.
● Passion, creativity and commitment to the mission of the school
● An ability to work collaboratively within a team of dynamic educators
● Qualifications to teach intermediate and senior divisions
● An education degree and membership in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers
● The ability to teach humanities would be an asset but not essential
● An understanding of the benefits of an all-girls’ learning environment
● The ability to instruct in a technology-rich environment
● Experience teaching in an International Baccalaureate school is desirable
