In 2016 they interviewed Jessica Lahey, the author of The Gift of Failure and I particularly enjoyed this episode. I thought she offered an interesting perspective on failure—a popular topic in educational circles these days. She believes that her aim, as a teacher, is to help kids feel the consequences of their mistakes, adapt in a healthy way to those mistakes, and move forward.
Applying to Elmwood
Selecting a school for your daughter is one of the most important decisions you will make as a parent. Discovering Elmwood is an exciting process. Our Admissions team will guide you through the steps, answering all your questions along the way.
Parents and students are encouraged to come see the School in person, during an information session or on a private tour. Your daughter can also come for a Taster Morning, where she will attend classes with a current Elmwood girl, or a Friends Friday event, if you are interested in the Early Years Program.
Complete our online application form, including the applicant’s profile, and submit your application fee of $150. Applications for financial aid and scholarships can also be completed at this time.
Within two weeks of submitting your application, we will contact you to set up an interview. In the interview, we will review your application and have a chance to ask and answer any questions. You and your daughter will also have the opportunity to meet other key members of the team and discuss the next steps. Interviews typically take approximately 1 hour.
