Junior School

As they progress through Junior School, girls develop skills, passion and a curiosity about the world—resulting in a love of learning. They continue to gain confidence and build the resilience and strength of character that they need to take smart risks, use their voice and develop to their full potential.

The IB Primary Years Programme curriculum framework is guided by six transdisciplinary themes of global significance, and recognizes the importance of not only what they learn, but how they learn. Using this inquiry-based model, our faculty teaches girls to teach themselves, using creativity, critical thinking and their own natural curiosity to discover and understand the world around them.

Junior School is made up of the following grades:

  • Grade 1– 6 years old by December 31st of the academic year
  • Grade 2– 7 years old by December 31st of the academic year
  • Grade 3– 8 years old by December 31st of the academic year
  • Grade 4– 9 years old by December 31st of the academic year
  • Grade 5– 10 years old by December 31st of the academic year

The elementary years are a critical period of development where academic, physical and social foundations are established. Elmwood’s Junior School provides a unique environment where your daughter will experience the best possible start to her school years. Our School is a happy, energetic place where students feel secure and comfortable in taking risks to develop their potential. We provide a broad range of opportunities for girls to discover and extend their interests and passions. When you start something at a young age, there’s no telling where it can lead you.
