Min Kim, Music Teacher
Ms. Kim is delighted to become a part of the Elmwood School community as the new Music Teacher this fall. After completing her studies at McGill University, she returned home to the Maritimes and worked at a preparatory boarding school as a teacher and also as a house parent in the senior girls' residence. Most recently, she moved all the way from New Brunswick to start this exciting new chapter in Ottawa. Although it seems that this school year may be a little different than usual, Ms. Kim is looking forward to exploring the many facets of Music with her students and also bringing her passion and enthusiasm to Elmwood!
Juan Londono, Facilities Team
Mr. Londono is well known to many members of the Elmwood community having been part of the after-hours custodial team at Elmwood. A cheerful, conscientious and hard-working team member, Mr. Londono joined the Facilities Team in July, replacing the retired Mr. Kelly.
Rae-Anna Maitland, Drama Teacher
Ms. Maitland is thrilled to be joining Elmwood as our newly appointed Drama Teacher. With over 5 years teaching experience in Montreal, Toronto (York University), Ms. Maitland also worked alongside Ms. Boychuck at Elmwood last year. Ms. Maitland is an experienced practitioner who has combined her love of teaching and the theatre through various directing, acting roles and teaching. She has a Masters of Fine Arts and through her research, teaching and direct application has developed areas of expertise including acting, movement, performance creation, mask work, puppetry, theatre in development, and filmmaking. She has directed her own productions for the Spyder Theatre Company and the Crow’s Theatre in Toronto and the Wakefield Theatre Company in Quebec. Ms Maitland is very interested in compassion-based resilience and has worked alongside teachers to develop engaging and relevant teaching resources in subjects as varied as Chemistry and Biology. Ms. Maitland is excited to bring her extensive experience with the theatre to the Elmwood classrooms and theatre program.
Dimple Patel, Director of University Counselling
Ms. Patel is excited to join Elmwood as the newly appointed Director of University Counselling. Her teaching career started in Barrie, Ontario with the Simcoe District School Board. During her time in Ontario, she completed both her Ontario Principal Qualification and her Masters of Arts in Geography. To travel and pursue her passion for education she moved abroad finding a rich opportunity at an Ontario high school close to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, where she was the Head Guidance and IB counsellor as well as teaching History and Social Sciences. After three rewarding years, Ms. Patel took another international opportunity at the Leysin American School in the Swiss Alps, as their University Counsellor. Through her broad experiences and connections, Ms. Patel will help our girls pursue their dreams and the local and International pathways that await them. Ms. Patel has a genuine passion for guiding students as they embark on new journeys and adventures and is excited to see what the future holds for the girls at Elmwood.
Camille Sirois, Junior Kindergarten Teacher
Ms. Sirois is thrilled to be joining Elmwood as our bilingual Junior Kindergarten Teacher. With a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Ottawa, IB PYP certification, three years international teaching experience in Veitnam and South Korea and eight years teaching at the Toronto French School, Ms. Sirois is a wonderful additional to our Early Years team.
