Middle and Senior School Events - Week of March 22, 2010

Please note the March Break holiday is March 8 – 19.

Monday, March 22

• Semaine de la Francophonie. Activities celebrating French culture all week.
• Junior Volleyball (Grade 9/10) home game: 4pm vs Lycée Claudel.
• House Challenge Soap and Shampoo Drive: March 22 – March 26. Organized by Senior School House Council. A reminder that families who might be traveling over March Break are asked to bring home travel sized toiletries to be donated to the Ottawa Mission. Bring in to the Auditorium each morning Monday to Friday. 10 House Points will be go to the top house.

Tuesday, March 23

• Junior Volleyball (Grade 9/10) practice.
• Senior Choir practice: 3:50 – 5pm.

Wednesday, March 24

• Epliepsy Awareness Week educational presentation: During assembly.
• Junior Volleyball (Grade 9/10) away game: 4:00pm at Ridgemont.
• Grade 7/8 Basketball practce: 4:00pm.

Thursday, March 25

• Grade 10 PARTY Program (Prevent Alcohol and Risk-Related Trauma in Youth).
• Senior Soccer practice: 7:15am.

Friday, March 26

• Grade 7/8 Dance: 7:00 – 10:00pm at MacDonald-Cartier Academy, 270 Crichton Street. Students should bring student ID, $8 for cover, and dress is casual (girls are required to cover their shoulders). MCA faculty will be supervising the dance, there will be no Elmwood faculty representative. Please drop off and pick up your daughter at the times specified above. Schools invited include: Ashbury, Elmwood and MCA.
• Grade 6 Pyjama Party: 4:00 – 7:00pm in the auditorium. All Grade 6's are invited to attend the event run by the prefects. There will be games, food and a movie.

Saturday, March 27

• IB Oral Exams: English and French
• Mother/Daughter Getaway: March 27 – 28 at Chateau Montebello. Welcome at 2pm; check-in at 3pm.

Host Family Needed

The Admissions Office is looking for an Elmwood family to host a Grade 9 exchange student from Austria beginning after the Easter break until the end of the school year. If you would like the opportunity to share your home with this exchange student, please contact Donna Naufal Moffatt, Director of Admissions, or Dana Borschewski, Director of Student Recruitment, as soon as possible.

Epilepsy Awareness Week at Elmwood

• March 24: Educational Presentation at assembly.
• March 29 – 31: Sale of purple school supplies at lunch; taking orders for Beaver Tails and Hot Chocolate ($5.00).  Beaver Tails will be available April 1 at lunch.
• April 1: Purple civies day—pay $2.00 to your home room and wear purple.
• April 1: Beaver tail lunch. Please pre-order between March 29 – 31. Beaver tails for $5.00 with hot chocolate in the auditorium at lunch. Cinnamon/sugar and purple skor frosting available.

All proceeds go to Epilepsy Ottawa-Carleton.

Ottawa Public Health Immunization Clinic – Thursday, April 15

• Final dose of Hepatitis B vaccine to Grade 7 students.
• Final dose of HPV vaccine to Grade 8 students.
