Parking Lot Safety Concern

Please ensure that you are driving slowly and carefully when you enter the Elmwood parking lot.  In recent weeks we have experienced some "near misses" because cars have been travelling too fast.  Thank you for helping us to keep the parking lot safe for all members of our community.

Friday, May 18

• Red Civvies Day – In celebrating Middle/Senior School “Arts Week”, all Junior School students may come to school dressed wearing the colour red today.
• Math Wizards (Grade 4) 12:25-12:55 p.m. in the Grade 4 classroom with Mrs. Wakeham.
• French Club (Grades 4-5) 12:25-12:55 p.m. in the French Room with Mme Gavan and M Ouimet.
• Yoga and Meditation (Grades 3-5) 12:25-12:55 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room with Ms. Meadowcroft.
• No Hip Hop (Grades 4-5) at lunch time.  Note: This activity is now finished.
• Competitive Robotics Club12:25-12:55 p.m. in the Computer Lab with Ms. Holmes and Mr. Perreault.
• Cafeteria Special: Local Beef and Vegetable Kabobs with Chimichurri Sauce and Organic Brown Rice

• ENNews (Grades 4-5) 12:25-12:55 p.m. in the Computer Lab with Ms. Holmes and Mr. Perreault.
• House Council (Grade 5) 12:25-12:55 p.m. in the Grade 5 classroom with Joanna Z. (Sr. student).
• Chess Club (Grades 1-5) 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the Library with an instructor from Chess n’ Math Association. Reminder: Don’t forget to bring your chess set to school for this activity.
• Cafeteria Special: Mixed vegetable tomato sauce with whole wheat organic penne pasta and Caesar salad.

Wednesday, May 23

• Elmwood’s annual whole school photo (weather permitting), 11:00 a.m. Reminder: Junior School students should come to school in their Number One uniform (tunic, short sleeve top, green socks).
• Jiu-Jitsu (Grades 1-5) 12:25-12:55 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room with an instructor from Cooligan Martial Arts. Note: Jiu-Jitsu was cancelled on May 9th therefore the make-up class will be on Monday, May 28th at lunch.
• Tennis Club (Grades 3-5) 12:25-12:55 p.m. in the basketball court with Dianna C. (Sr. student) and Ms. MacDougall.
• Drums Etc. (Grades 4-5) 12:25-12:55 p.m. on the third floor with Mrs. Pike. LAST CLASS MAY 30
• Math Wizards (Grade 4) 12:25-12:55 p.m. in the Grade 4 classroom with Mrs. Wakeham.
• Math Magicians (Grade 5) 12:25-12:55 p.m. in the Grade 5 classroom with Ms. Holmes and Ms. Wiegand.

• Cafeteria Special: Chicken vegetable and organic mixed bean quesadilla with plain yogurt, salsa and organic brown rice with fresh herbs.

Thursday, May 24

• Junior Kindergarten visits Canada Agriculture Museum’s Central Farm. The group will depart at 9:20 a.m. and will return before dismissal time.  Reminder: Students are to come to school dressed in comfortable clothing for this field trip. (No uniform required.)
• Grade 3 trip to Upper Canada Village. The group departs at 8:30 a.m. and will return before dismissal time.  Reminder: Please pack a healthy snack and lunch to eat at the Village. Students are asked to wear their summer uniform (skort, green polo shirt, green socks) and comfortable shoes for this field trip.
• No Friday Fitness (Grades 1-5) at morning recess because Ms. MacDougall is with the Grade 3 field trip.
• Running Club (Grades 1-5) 12:25-12:55 p.m. on school grounds with Mrs. Blackadar and Ms. Strachan.  Note: Students must have appropriate foot wear for this activity.
• Concert Club (Grades 1-5) 12:25-12:55 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room with Mrs. Pike.
• Robotics Club (Grades 4-5) 12:25-12:55 p.m. in the Grade 5 classroom with Ms. Wiegand.
• Competitive Robotics Club 12:25-12:55 p.m. in the Computer Lab with Ms. Holmes and Mr. Perreault.
• Ukulele Club (Grades 4-5) 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room with Mrs. Pike. LAST CLASS MAY 31  
• Cafeteria Special: Panko crusted wild salmon potato cakes with oven roasted asparagus and homemade tartar sauce.

Friday, May 25

• Spirit Afternoon: 1:00-3:00 p.m.  Junior School students may come to school dressed in their House colours for this event.
• Math Wizards (Grade 4) 12:25-12:55 p.m. in the Grade 4 classroom with Mrs. Wakeham.
• French Club (Grades 4-5) 12:25-12:55 p.m. in the French Room with Mme Gavan and M Ouimet.

• Cafeteria Special: Hot dog day with organic Greek pasta salad with fresh vegetables.
