Patricia Harewood holds an LL.B and a License en droit civil (LL.L cum laude) from the University of Ottawa. She is fluent in English, French and Spanish. She has published on topics such as challenging the New Bantustan in Post-Apartheid South Africa; Black women and girls; HIV/AIDS and the Constitutional Right to Health Care. She is currently employed at the Public Service Alliance of Canada.
In the past, Ms. Harewood has worked with women's organizations as a legal researcher, assisted clients who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to obtain primary identification documents and advocated with community partners for increased access to health care for clients with multiple barriers. She coordinated the Collective Kitchen Projects, an anti-poverty community action group for the Sandy Hill Community Health Centre in Ottawa.
Ms. Harewood volunteers with her condominium corporation; co-hosted Black on Black, a current affairs program on CHUO 89.11 FM; is a member of SIFA choir and is a trustee of the Alfie Roberts Institution, Montreal.
