Field Hockey Team Advances to City Finals
Wednesday October 27Elmwood's Field Hockey team won their semi-final match against Gloucester Monday evening after a dramatic double overtime and final shoot-out situation. Goalie Amanda Thoo had a shut out, while Alyssa Hartvich and Erica Coady scored in the very intense best of five shoot-out.
Coach Elska Malek was impressed with the girls' spirit and determination "Our team showed tremendous skill, endurance, and character. They pressed on during the double overtime and into the shoot-outs with confidence, good sportsmanship, and focus"
The team will face West Carleton in the city championship for the National Capital Secondary School Athletic Association (NCSSAA) gold medal on Thursday afternoon at 3p.m. at Minto Field. Go Eagles!
