Elmwood Goes to the Olympics
Tuesday March 29On Wednesday February 23rd, four students from Elmwood’s Middle and Senior schools participated in the Ottawa Science and Engineering Olympics. Held at the Museum of Science and Technology annually, this event brings together middle and high school students from the Ottawa area to compete in several science and engineering themed events. Participating in this event were Grade 11’s, Sophia Rodriguez and Emma Graham, as well as Grade 8’s, Christina Witschel and Fatima Zaidi. Congratulations to Fatima and Christina for receiving a bronze medal for their entry in the bionic arm category!
The students who participated all heralded it as a great experience. Elmwood participant Sophia Rodriguez said about the event: “participating in the event really instilled me with the desire to participate in science and contribute to scientific knowledge. I had a fantastic time!”
This year’s participating students encourage Elmwood students who are interested in science to participate in next year’s event.
