Elmwood girls shine at Eastern Ontario Regional Swimming Championships

Ottawa, June 5 – 7 – Five outstanding athletes swam their way to numerous top ten finishes this weekend in the Eastern Ontario Swimming Association Regional Championships, held at the Nepean Sportsplex.

Grade six, Olivia D. is the eleven year old Ontario regional champion in the 50 metre freestyle. She also earned a silver medal in the 50m butterfly and bronze medals for the 50m back stroke, 100m freestyle, 100m butterfly and team medley relay events.

Grade seven, twelve year old, Allison B. earned a bronze medal for the 50m freestyle and stood on top of the podium with her team in the 200 meter freestyle relay event. Natascha JP., grade seven, earned a bronze for the 200m medley team relay event. The twelve-year old also finished a strong 4th in the 50m butterfly and 5th in 50m breaststroke.

Casey C., grade seven, swam a weekend of personal bests taking 7th in 100m backstroke, 100m freestyle events and 8th in the 50m freestyle and 200m backstroke finals in her first championship meet as a thirteen year-old.

Eighth grader, Katie D. swam a lightning fast 50m backstroke earning 4th place in the region for fourteen year-olds. She also swam in the finals to earn 5th in the 50m butterfly and 6th in the 100m butterfly events.
