Parents’ and Friends’ Association Committee

The Parents’ and Friends’ Association Committee, or PFAC, is a volunteer group that welcomes everyone associated with the School. Parents, Alumnae and their families, faculty and administration as well as friends of the school are all automatically members of PFAC.

PFAC’s mission is to foster the relationship between parents, friends and the school and to form a partnership to benefit the School and its community. All PFAC programs and events support Elmwood’s mission and values.

The PFAC has three main objectives:

• To provide an avenue for parents and friends to actively participate in School life.
• To develop and promote a strong sense of community and school spirit.
• To raise funds for the benefit and enhancement of the school community.

Through the PFAC, Parents, Alumnae and friends contribute in a significant way to Elmwood’s school life with their time, expertise and dedication.

Meetings

Executive PFAC meetings are held during the school year on the first Wednesday of each month.

Twice a year PFAC holds a General Meeting.

PFAC Programs and Activities:

• Welcome Back BBQ: organized by PFAC in the first weeks of September.
• New Parent Welcome: organized by School with the support and attendance of PFAC members
• Run for the Cure: the biggest community-outreach event by Elmwood, for 10 years in a row Elmwood has raised the largest amount by any school in Ottawa. It involves organizing a variety of activities to raise funds and raise awareness for Breast Cancer. Chairperson: Danielle May-Cuconato.
• Elmwood Gala: Elmwood’s most important and significant fundraising event. There are a variety of ways to contribute to this event through time and donations.  Chairperson: Arlie Koyman- Mierins.
• Mother Daughter: a special event for Elmwood mothers and daughters to come together and bond. Chairperson: currently vacant
• Father Daughter Dinner-Dance: a memorable night for Elmwood fathers and daughters. Chairperson: currently vacant 
• Junior School Tea: a Junior School event for daughters and parents to share an unforgettable afternoon. Chairpersons: Vera Fitch and Catherine McLaughlin.
• The Pound (Lost and Found): where our daughters will find all those things they've “misplaced.” Run by: Anne Tremblay.
• Uniform Shop: school uniform, new and gently used, as well as Elmwood novelties. It is also a fundraising activity. Run by: Nancy Greenley.
• Class Parent Representative Coordinator: currently vacant
• Annual Campaign Liaison: support the school’s Advancement Office by helping with the Annual fundraising campaign.
• Speaker Series: organized by Raquelle Dupuis
• Volunteer Coordinator: Raquelle Dupuis

Volunteering

The committee is always looking for volunteers and welcomes your participation, as much as your time will allow. Volunteering is also a wonderful way to get to know the school better to and meet fellow parents. Your daughter will benefit from your involvement!
