Computers / Laptops
All Elmwood Senior School students take part in our 1:1 MacBook program. Students in the 21st century learn most comfortably and enthusiastically when they are able to access, analyze, and synthesize information using digital tools. When every student in the classroom has technology at their fingertips, a whole new world of instructional possibilities appears. Our classrooms are ideally set up for laptop usage and most are also equipped with SMART boards. This makes it simple for our faculty members to integrate laptop usage into many of their lessons in all areas of study.
Elmwood School has contracted with Apple, Inc. to set up a lease-to-purchase program for our Senior School. Apple has offered us lease terms that will make it possible for our families to acquire this wonderful learning tool and all the needed software applications, along with 4 years of hardware and software assurances, at a price that is unavailable elsewhere. In addition, Elmwood provides a dedicated laptop support technician and loaner laptops if repairs are required—your daughter’s learning will continue uninterrupted.
The laptop will have the Mac OS X operating system. Additional applications come with the laptop. The software we are adding includes:
- Mac OSX 10.6.8 Snow Leopard (includes iTunes, Time Machine, Quick Look, Spaces, Spotlight, Dashboard, Mail, iChat, Safari, Address Book, QuickTime, iCal, DVD Player, Photo Booth, Front Row, Xcode Developer Tools)
- Microsoft Office for Mac 2011
- iLife 2011 (iPhoto, iWeb, iMovie, iDVD, Garageband)
- iWorks 2009 (Keynote, Pages, Numbers)
- Adobe CS3 (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
- Logger Pro
- Geometer's SketchPad
- Inspiration 8
