School Custodian (4 month Full Time Contract, Renewal Available)
At Elmwood School, we are dedicated to creating a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for our students, staff, and visitors. We believe that our facilities play a crucial role in supporting the educational development of our students and the overall community spirit. We are currently seeking a motivated and diligent School Custodian to join our team.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate industrial vacuum cleaners to remove scraps, dirt, heavy debris, and other refuse to ensure a clean and safe environment.
- Wash windows, interior walls, and ceilings to maintain a presentable appearance throughout the school.
- Empty trash cans and other waste containers to prevent overflow and maintain cleanliness.
- Sweep, mop, scrub, and wax hallways, floors, and stairs, ensuring all areas are spotless and hazard-free.
- Clean snow and ice from walkways and parking areas to ensure the safety of students, staff, and visitors.
- Cut grass, tend to grounds and plants, contributing to the overall aesthetic and environmental health of the school.
- Clean and disinfect washrooms and fixtures to maintain high hygiene standards.
- Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies as required, supporting various school functions and classroom setups.
- Undertake painting and wall repairs to ensure the school maintains a neat and orderly appearance.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in custodial, janitorial, or maintenance roles preferred.
- Ability to operate industrial cleaning equipment and perform physical tasks such as lifting and moving heavy items.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies, including safe handling and storage practices.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, as needed.
- A commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and inviting environment for all.

Elmwood School is seeking applications from dynamic, innovative teachers for our summer credit course in Data Management and Statistics (MDM4U) that will run from June 24-July 17, 2024.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong academic foundation in mathematics and will be skilled in developing and delivering engaging, comprehensive programming tailored to the diverse learning needs of our students. While experience in an International Baccalaureate School and in an all-girls learning environment is advantageous, it is not mandatory.
Qualifications/Skills:

Experience with IB Diploma Mathematics or similar advanced mathematics curriculum is preferred.
