Scholarships/Financial Aid
Elmwood scholarships and financial aid are made possible as a result of the generosity of committed donors who are interested in ensuring Elmwood’s community is enriched by talented students and supportive parents, some of whom would not be able to access the Elmwood experience without a scholarship or financial aid.
Every year, Elmwood sets aside a budget that will go towards financially supporting students in the school. The budget is determined by benchmarks as compared to other similar-in-size Canadian independent schools. Once our awards budget has been distributed for a given school year, we are not able to surpass our set allocation. Therefore it is important you meet the application deadline, should you wish to have your daughter considered for a scholarship or a financial aid.
Please see below for more information on our internal and external scholarships, and financial aid.

Elmwood is committed to attracting and retaining exceptional girls with unique qualities through our scholarship program. We acknowledge, however, that identifying such talent is far from easy. Recognizing aptitude goes beyond the assessment of one’s current achievement and performance, but considers the potential she has for her future.
With this in mind, our scholarship process is designed so that we have an opportunity to get to know our candidates, learn about current achievements and identify potential for future academic success and contribution to school life.
As an Elmwood Scholar, your daughter is an integral part of our school community. It is our commitment to your daughter that we will nurture her development, support her interests and challenge her mind so that she is inspired to reach her full potential in everything she does. In return, we know that she will be proud of her talents, embrace challenges as opportunities, contribute to her school, and will make the most of the education she has been provided not for herself alone, but for the benefit of her greater community.
Elmwood welcomes outstanding girls to apply to our scholarship program. We are simply interested in attracting exceptional students that would benefit from Elmwood’s dynamic, enriching and academically rigorous educational environment. With a scholarship from Elmwood, opportunities are endless for your daughter.

Margaret White Scholarship
The prestigious Margaret White High School Entrance Scholarship is awarded to a promising student entering Grade 9 who demonstrates academic excellence, leadership, and extra-curricular and community involvement. The scholarship covers tuition fees for four years, taking the recipient through to graduation.
Past Margaret White Scholars have excelled in the classroom, developed confidence and self-esteem, taken on leadership roles at School, and gone on to universities both near and far. This award was established to eliminate the tuition barrier for exceptional students who otherwise could not attend Elmwood.
Margaret White was Headmistress of Elmwood School from 1982 to 1990. In her memory, her family generously endowed an annual scholarship to be awarded to a deserving student that exemplifies the Elmwood spirit.

- Financial Aid
-
Elmwood is committed to enriching the school’s community by reaching out to exceptional students from diverse backgrounds. Financial aid allows us to offer the advantages of an Elmwood education to girls who show promise, regardless of their family’s economic situation.
Parents can apply for financial aid (bursary) at the same time a child’s application for admission has been submitted to the school. Bursaries are awarded according to need and are not dependent on scholastic or other special gifts, except insofar as the child in question must satisfy the School's entry requirements and must continue to work to capacity during her progress through the School.
All applicants for a financial aid are required to complete a means questionnaire which is confidentially submitted to a third party, Apple Financial Services, for evaluation. The questionnaire is designed to provide a full picture of the income, assets, outgoings and liabilities of applicants so that the School's Scholarship and Bursary Committee can determine those to whom an offer of a bursary would be most beneficial. All Bursaries must be renewed annually and up to date financial information submitted on a yearly basis.
