Scholarships and Financial Aid

Elmwood is committed to enriching the school’s community by reaching out to exceptional students from diverse backgrounds. Financial aid allows us to offer the advantages of an Elmwood education to girls who show promise, regardless of their family’s economic situation.

Each year, the School awards the Margaret White Scholarship. In addition, Elmwood will offer up to six Entrance Scholarships each year of a value of 25% of tuition fees.  These may be topped up by additional Bursaries.

Bursaries
Bursaries-on-Entry are applied for by parents before their child starts at Elmwood. Bursaries are awarded according to need and are not dependent on scholastic or other special gifts, except insofar as the child in question must satisfy the School's entry requirements and must continue to work to capacity during her progress through the School. It is common for Scholarship winners to have their awards supplemented by Bursaries.

All applicants for a Bursary are required to complete a means questionnaire which is confidentially submitted to a third party, Apple Financial Services, for evaluation. The questionnaire is designed to provide a full picture of the income, assets, outgoings and liabilities of applicants so that the School's Bursary Committee can determine those to whom an offer of a bursary would be most beneficial. All Bursaries must be renewed annually and up to date financial information submitted on a yearly basis.

The bursary application deadline is Friday, January 8, 2010. Please contact Donna Naufal Moffatt, Director of Admissions, for more information.

Margaret White Scholarship
Margaret White was Headmistress of Elmwood School from 1982 to 1990. In her memory, her family generously endowed an annual scholarship to be awarded to a deserving student that exemplifies the Elmwood spirit.

The prestigious Margaret White High School Entrance Scholarship is awarded to a promising student entering Grade 9 in 2010 who demonstrates academic excellence, leadership, and extra-curricular and community involvement. The scholarship covers tuition fees for four years, taking the recipient through to graduation.

Past Margaret White Scholars have excelled in the classroom, developed confi dence and self-esteem, taken on leadership roles at School, and gone on to universities both near and far.

This award was established to eliminate the tuition barrier for exceptional students who otherwise could not attend Elmwood.

Applications for the 2010 Margaret White Scholarship are now closed.
