Technology

Elmwood School has long embraced the use of new technologies as enhanced teaching tools—evidenced by our 1:1 laptop program and SMART boards. Increasingly, our learning environment mirrors students’ lives and their futures—one that seamlessly integrates today’s digital tools, accommodates a mobile lifestyle, and encourages collaboration and teamwork in physical and virtual spaces.

Research shows that successful implementation of innovative technology improves students’ academic performance, motivation, attitude and interest. By combining this with other best practices, Elmwood’s 21st century curriculum is student directed, project based, rigorous, relevant and specifically designed to prepare students for life and work beyond the classroom.

Junior School Technology Program

TechnologyInformation Studies is taught in the Junior School from Junior Kindergarten through to Grade Five. At the Primary/Junior level, students are engaged in learning the essential knowledge, skills, and attitudes that they need for academic success. Senior School Technology Program

SStech.jpgAll Senior School students take part in our 1:1 MacBook program. Laptop usage is integrated into all classes and students are encouraged to use digital tools to enhance their learning.

Students work with concepts of digital imaging, graphic and web design and the science behind different forms of communication technology. Many of the projects involve group-based activities that require individual problem-solving and critical thinking as well as the sharing of ideas, creativity and expertise. Project management skills and tips are constantly reinforced.
